Swapping homes with a stranger may sound odd, but it's giving families the opportunity to see the world without breaking the bank.

Michelle Stiles, a Las Vegas resident, has booked trips to San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and England using the website Love Home Swap.

The website connects you with homeowners around the world. Type in where you want to go and when, check out photos, ratings, amenities, and arrange to temporarily swap homes.

"It's a real community. Members here are like-minded, they like to travel and they love this cool option," said Tyrone Law, a representative for Love Home Swap.

Stiles says Las Vegas is in high demand.

"There has been more requests than I can handle, I don't have that much time ... I do work!" Stiles added.

A membership comes with an annual fee of $132, which is the average cost for one night in a hotel room.

Each swap costs an additional $69.

Stiles says it's a small price to pay for a full kitchen, a space large enough for family and friends, and the personal connections made.

"People leave us little love notes, the lady from France brought French champagne," Stiles added. "I've had people gift us little chocolates. I mean, really sweet stuff."
