CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Nevada lawmakers are considering at least 17 bills on sexual assault, sex trafficking and sexual misconduct during this year's legislative session.

The legislative proposals are wide ranging as the topics themselves, encompassing points throughout the legal system.

Many of the bills bolster rights and protections for survivors of sexual abuse or make it easier to prosecute sexual offenses.

Republican Assemblywoman Lisa Krasner supports several of the bills.

She says there's increased attention on the issues because Nevada last year elected the first female-majority Legislature in the U.S.

The bills include measures that seek to expand the definition of sexual assault, abolish the statute of limitations in certain sex assault cases and enact a bill of rights for sexual assault survivors.
