LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Helping homeless or at-risk youth create a better future is HELP of Southern Nevada’s goal.
At the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center, students who need extra assistance in work or GED preparation get hands-on guidance from the staff.

“Some of [our clients] haven’t been to school since they were in 6th grade,” said Delsa LaFaele, the activities coordinator for the organization.
Because the education level for each client varies, young adults who seek help first get an assessment and then are placed in the program best suited for them.
“A lot of the times when they come to us they either don’t have the training or skills to find work, or they don’t have their GED or high school diploma,” said Delsa.
Through the GED preparation program, students can also get extra help through virtual learning.
The overall goal of the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center is to get homeless and at-risk youth into a space where they are self-sufficient and become successful in society.
