The roof collapsed during a fire at a vacant building near downtown Las Vegas Wednesday morning.

The fire started around 5:20 a.m. in the 100 block of South 13th Street, near Carson Avenue.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue said the fire was in one-story building. Heavy smoke was visible when crews arrived and flames were coming from vents on the roof.

Firefighters called for a second alarm around 5:45 a.m.

It took firefighters 30 minutes to put the flames out. 50 firefighters responded to the scene.

While Las Vegas Fire & Rescue initially said it was a vacant building, they later said it was being used as a commercial laundry service for hotels and 10 people were out of work. There was $250,000 in damage.

There were no reported injuries. Firefighters are continuing to investigate.
