There's a lot that comes to mind when you picture Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con in your head -- costumes, vendors, artwork, and maybe a chance to get an autograph from Stan Lee.

For local businesses in the Las Vegas community, Comic Con is a chance to showcase their passions in a geek-friendly environment.

Shawn Wilson has lived in Las Vegas for decades while working at Nellis Air Force Base. As a lover of science fiction, Dungeons and Dragons, and all things fantasy, he was inspired to create a board game based on a common fantasy trope.

"You always see dragons in film... with a ton of gold," said Wilson, "but you never see how they get it."

Thus the idea of Amasser Dragons was born. In the game, players roll dice and play cards to outwit their opponents and collect the most gold.

The game is an entirely Nevadan creation, with Wilson teaming up with a company in Pahrump to manufacture the pieces. He says that selling his game at conventions isn't always easy, but it's worth it in the end.

"I met a lot of outstanding people at these conventions," he said. "I actually met my girlfriend, Carol at [Amazing Las Vegas Comic Con]."
