The Mohave County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting involving a Kingman Police officer that occurred around 10:38 p.m. Monday.
Reports say that the officer was examining a stopped vehicle on Broadway Avenue near Stockton Hill Road. The female driver of the vehicle brandished a shotgun and pointed it at the officer. In turn, the officer fired several shots, striking and killing the woman.
The woman was identified as 35-year-old Paula Phillips. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officer was not injured and was placed on administrative leave.
Officials are conducting an investigation of the incident. An autopsy is still pending.
