Plans are in place to reform Nevada's higher education system.

Nevada Assemblyman Elliott Anderson and state Sen. Joyce Woodhouse are introducing a bill to expand the Legislature's oversight of the Nevada System of Higher Education.

This would include giving the Board of Regents the power to hire or fire institution presidents, requiring those presidents to provide their budgets directly to the board and the Legislature and protecting Nevada System of Higher Education employees who reveal false or misleading statements made to lawmakers.

The plans come after questions were raised about information provided by the Nevada System of Higher Education and a consulting company.
