A Las Vegas marijuana dispensary is pushing the industry more into the mainstream with an advertisement in the in-flight magazine of a major airline.
Acres Cannabis has a full-page ad in the latest issue of Sunseeker, the magazine that goes in the seat-back pocket of every Allegiant Air flight.
"It's the first time a major airline has taken any advertising from anyone in this market," said John Mueller, the CEO of Acres Cannabis. "It's a real big deal for the industry as a whole and hopefully this breaks down some barriers and we're all heading toward public acceptance."
Besides billboards, dispensary owners say advertising generally stays on social media and marijuana-specific apps.
Getting on more traditional platforms will let them reach new audiences like tourists coming to Las Vegas.
An Allegiant representative told 13 Action News the airline doesn't endorse Acres or its product.
