A viewer contacted 13 Action News concerned about loud planes flying in the middle of the night from Nellis Air Force Base.

Many neighbors who live near the base say it's common to hear sometimes loud jets taking off during the day, but lately, they've been hearing more of them at night.

"They're shaking the houses and making car alarms go off," one neighbor says.

13 Action News reached out to Nellis Air Force Base. They told us the night flights are part of a training exercise they're doing called Neptune Falcon. It's working to bring different groups of the military together for training.

They say neighbors should expect flights through 6 a.m. through May 4.

As for the city of North Las Vegas, while they do have noise ordinance rules, they don't apply to the base because it's run by the federal government. They say they rarely get complaints about the jets from Nellis.

In a statement, they told 13 Action News, "We feel extremely fortunate to have Nellis as our neighbor."
