A man is dead on the east side of town after shots rang out in an apartment complex near Nellis Boulevard and Sahara Avenue, and the gunman is still on the loose.

A huge crime scene was roped off, extending onto the sidewalk and one lane of traffic. Police said they were recovering multiple shell casings after multiple shots were fired.

A woman identifying herself as the victim's cousin says the deceased is William Sharoe, otherwise known as Billy. He was identified by the Clark County coroner as 44-year-old William Brown. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim's cousin said he was a father, with a couple of teenage children living in California. She also says he was a well-liked family man and says she has no idea who would have wanted to hurt him.

"I don't even know if it was an argument, I don't even know what happened. All I know is my cousin is dead. Oh my goodness, this is so sad," said Sequaeilea Long, William's cousin.

Police believe some sort of argument happened in the parking lot when multiple shots rang out. The victim was hit at least once but made it to his apartment in the complex to call for help. He died at the hospital.

The suspect is still on the run and police say he is armed and dangerous. So far police only have a limited description -- a black adult male -- but say once they gather more witness testimony they should have details to add.

This is the 113th homicide to be investigated by the Las Vegas police department in 2015.

Police warn not to approach this person if you know who they are, and urge people to contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 with additional information.
