The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department held a press conference on last week's officer-involved shooting where they released the body camera video showing what happened moments before police said they were forced to shoot and kill a suspect.

Police say they clearly thought the suspect, Keith Childress, was armed. The object was later determined to be a cell phone.

This is the first officer-involved shooting where suspect did not have a gun in 2 years. For over two minutes, you can hear them pleading with the suspect.

"Get down, drop your gun, put your hands up!"

Marshals had originally told police the suspect was wanted for attempted murder, which later turned out to be false.

Childress had been accused of multiple violent felonies in Arizona and police said he was in Las Vegas staying with a family friend.

When marshals tried to take him in New Year's Eve he fled, leaving behind a car that had a gun inside. Police were called to assist U.S. Marshals.
