Water Safety Tips

  • Swim in areas supervised by lifeguards.

  • Use the buddy system, don't swim alone.

  • Do not leave young children unattended near water.

  • Have your kids take a water safety and swim class.

  • Use U.S. Coast Guard approved life jackets.

  • Be cautious around natural bodies of water. Water temperatures and currents can be dangerous.

  • Avoid alcoholic beverages while swimming. Alcohol can affect judgment and balance and the body's ability to stay warm.
