Salt therapy and salt rooms or caves have arrived in Las Vegas.

Salt Room LV has two locations in Las Vegas, the original location in Summerlin and a second location in Henderson.

If you are wondering how you would feel after a session in a salt room or cave, think back to the last time you spent a couple of days lying on the beach beside an ocean. You will feel more relaxed and able to breathe a little easier for a time.

Salt therapy is a natural, non-invasive therapy that can help relieve the symptoms of a wide range of respiratory problems, including chronic bronchitis, allergies and asthma.

Salt therapy is not a new idea. In fact, it's been around since the 1800s.

A Polish physician noticed in 1843 that workers at a salt mine did not suffer from the lung disorders that were common at the time. He developed a therapy based on the theory that the salt protected the minors from a variety of ailments and named it speleotherapy (speleo is Greek for cave).

Speleotherapy quickly became popular in many countries, including Austria, Romania, Poland, Ukraine and Russia.

The Russians took it a step further when they developed halotherapy in 1989. Halotherapy, also known as salt therapy, uses modern technology to reproduce the therapeutic conditions found in natural salt caves in a modern, spa-like room. Patients sit in comfortable chairs and breathe in superfine particles of salt while listening to music, reading or napping.

Salt therapy can help if you suffer from asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus congestion, smoker's cough, sleep apnea and even Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

MORE ABOUT BENEFITS OF SALT THERAPY

If you sign up for a series of sessions, symptoms of your illness should subside significantly and the relief can last for several months before you need to return.

Personally speaking, after spending less than45 minutes in a the salt cave at Salt Room LV, I could feel a difference.

I was definitely able to breathe easier (I have mild allergies and I smoke) and the skin on my cheeks had a nice rosy glow (salt therapy is also good if you suffer from acne, dermatitis, eczema, rosacea etc.).

I also felt much more relaxed after sitting in one of the zero-gravity chairs and just listening to thee soothing music while I breathed in the salt. There aren't too many days when that is possible when you are a member of the media and it was nice being "forced" to do it. My mood was definitely improved by the experience.

In addition to salt room sessions, Salt Room LV also offers yoga and meditation classes and has a special room just for children.

Check out the testimonial below by a mother who was looking for something that would help her child breathe properly again.

Guests can pay as they go or purchase memberships which include facials and massages, yoga and meditation classes, unlimited halo therapy sessions and more, depending on the package purchased.

First time clients receive 2 sessions for the price of one (regular price is $35 per 45-minute session).
