LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Boulder City restaurant has taken a leap of faith while staying open and resourceful in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic.

"I've been here 20 years, and the restaurant is on its eighth year," said Dan Fox, the owner of Fox Smokehouse BBQ in Boulder City.

Fox started building a new location for his restaurant a year and a half ago, and just as they planned to open the doors to their new location, restaurants were forced to close their doors to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

"The timing wasn't the best," Fox said.

For months, they stuck to carry out. Then on the Fourth of July, they welcomed customers to their new location, as they continued to serve burnt ends, brisket, and their "Sloppy Fox."

"It's been a challenge," Fox said. "We've had to adjust on pretty much a daily basis."

Currently, masks are required unless you're eating, the bartop is closed, and the restaurant using 50% of their seating, due to Nevada's mandates. And there are stations scattered around the restaurant complete with BBQ-scented hand sanitizer.

Fox Smokehouse BBQ is located at 930 Nevada Way in Boulder City.
