There were countless examples of the humanity shining through on the night of October 1, 2017.  And while the headlines may be less frequent, there are still heroes among us. Heroes like Hard Rock Hotel and Casino employee Luca Iclodean.

Luca was injured in the shooting. His co-workers raised nearly $11,000 to help him, but Luca said there are people who needed the money more than he does.

Lisa Fine is also a survivor of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting and a founder of Route91Strong, a nonprofit organization created to help survivors of the mass shooting.

"His heart was completely caring about other people," said Fine.

So Hard Rock Hotel and Casino donated the money to Route91Strong in Luca's name.

It is being divided up between survivors who applied for the help. Many survivors are still struggling to get back on their feet due to medical bills, lost jobs and emotional trauma. Xani Mangibin also survived the mass shooting. She said for months she had too much pride to admit she needed help.

"Don't be prideful," she said. "There is help out there. Your suffering can end."

After losing her job she said receiving financial assistance from Route91Strong fulfilled a practical need, but it's more than that.

"But more than anything that check means, hey we are here for you." she said. "For support. To have you stand next to us and say we will guide you through and we will get through this together."

Organizers are planning a benefit concert for Route91Strong in June.
