The Nevada Department of Transportation has announced major road closures over the weekend as construction work on Project Neon continues near downtown Las Vegas.

Crews will close Interstate 15 southbound between U.S. Highway 95 and Charleston Boulevard from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

Additionally, the following ramps will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday:

  • U.S. Highway 95 northbound to Interstate 15 southbound
  • D Street onramp to Interstate 15 southbound
  • U.S. Highway 95 northbound offramp to Martin Luther King Boulevard
  • Interstate 15 northbound offramp to Martin Luther King Boulevard

All Interstate 15 southbound traffic will be detoured, exiting at U.S. Highway 95 northbound onto Martin Luther King Boulevard and re-entering at the Pinto Lane onramp.

According to NDOT, the temporary closures are needed for crews to pour concrete for four bridge decks as part of a new High Occupancy Vehicle flyover structure.

Other weekend improvement work will also include installing a barrier railing, overhead signs, high mast lights, and asphalt paving.

The upgrades are part of Project Neon as the nearly $1 billion project is 88 percent finished and scheduled for substantial completion in the summer of 2019.
