A fire caused $80,000 in damage to a house at Charleston Heights on Wednesday. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Coulthard Drive, near Alta Drive and Rainbow Boulevard, around 12:33 p.m.

Once they arrived, firefighters tried to enter the home to put out the flames but noticed the roof was beginning to collapse. They were able to bring the fire under control from the outside.

The fire gutted the attic and caused heavy damage to the outside rear of the house and the interior.

Investigators believe the fire started on the back patio outside, then burned up the rear wall into the attic and spread across the house. The cause of the blaze has not been determined.

The house appeared to be vacant, and there were no utilities in the home. However, neighbors did see a man coming and going from the residence. They believe he may be related to the owner of the home, who died a few years ago.
