It soon could be legal to smoke pot out in public.
Support is growing for a bill that would allow marijuana consumption at licensed businesses.
Advocates say it could give rise to a brand-new and lucrative industry: marijuana tourism.
State Sen. Tick Segerblom is behind the proposed bill.
If it passes, businesses could apply for licenses that would make it legal to smoke on the premises.
Currently it is only legal to smoke in private residences. It's illegal to do outside and in hotel rooms and casinos.
Supporters say it would solve a problem for tourists with no safe place to consume marijuana.
Some people don't like the idea.
"As a parent, I wouldn't want to go sit down in a restaurant and my daughter be subjected to possibly getting a contact high," said Kara Levy, the mother of a 14-year-old.
Advocates say it's unlikely that would ever happen.
They envision age-restricted establishments with rules and regulations.
They also see business opportunity in marijuana tourism.
Jason Sturtsman with Hope Premium Cannabis Products says he knows of people who plan to rezone their homes in order to rent their home out for events, or to individual pot users.
He says it would be like a "marijuana resort," or a cannabis-friendly hotel.
There is still nowhere to legally buy marijuana for recreational use.
Industry insiders say that could come as early as July 1.
