Las Vegas breaking news for May 14, 2018

This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for May 14, 2018.

10 P.M.

The officer involved in the May 12, 2018 officer-involved shooting which occurred in the 3400 block of Big Sur Drive, has been identified as Officer Ondre Wills. Officer Wills is 23 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since May 2016. Officer Wills is assigned to the Community Policing Division in the Southeast Area Command. He has been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this incident. 

OVERNIGHT

Firefighters responded to scene of a fire around 2 a.m. at 5029 N. Vista Del Rancho near West Washburn Road. One person was transported to University Medical Center. A dog and cat were also rescued from the fire. Cause of fire, which began in front room, is unknown at this time. 

The fire department reported later that the victim died. North Las Vegas Fire says the victim is a woman who was approximately 55 years old. They also said that the fire was caused by an unattended candle.
