LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Major security questions are swirling after an inmate went on the attack inside a Las Vegas courtroom and it was all caught on camera.

The outburst came from a sentencing hearing for Terhain Woods who was on trial stemming from a March 2017 beating of a 13-month-old boy.

Prosecutors painted a dark picture of Woods as he sat and listened during his sentencing hearing on Dec. 6.

"This individual is extremely violent," said the Clark County prosecutor.

"He is a ticking time bomb and he's a danger to anyone who is around him," she added.

A jury found Woods guilty of beating the boy he was supposedly watching.

"I think we can all appreciate how said this case is, a 13-month-old child was body slammed and almost died," said Woods' defense attorney.

"A jury ultimately found Mr. Woods guilty of that heinous offense, but I think at the same time, we all understand that Mr. Woods, quite frankly, is not on this planet," he added.

A judge sentenced Woods to between 8 to 20 years in prison plus an additional 1 to 3 years.

Woods then lunged at the prosecutor and has to be restrained by several officers in the courtroom.

Woods will likely face additional charges stemming from the courtroom incident.

It is unclear what, if any, security changes will be made after the attack.
