HENDERSON (KTNV) — A Henderson mother wants answers as she has been battling a major plumbing problem at her townhome.

Jessica Moe contacted 13 Action News for assistance with a root that has been growing out of a pipe at her rented property.

It's a bizarre situation that has plagued Moe for about month. Plumbers who have checked on the root told Moe they've never seen anything like it before.

“You don't realize everything you use water for until you fear for your own water use,” Moe said.

On Dec.16, Moe said she notified management of her concerns. However, the problem has remained.

One of the plumbing companies called to the home claims it notified Moe’s HOA, but the mother of four told 13 Action News that she was still in the dark about a solution to the problem.

Lauren Pena, directing attorney of Civil Law Self-Help Center, said that the first step for renters facing a challenge is to notify the homeowner in writing - something Moe said she had done.

The management company of the townhome responded Thursday and said it’s working with the plumbing company to resolve this issue, but it is an issue “They have not seen in 30 years.”

"It's important for tenants to know their rights," attorney Pena said.
