The family of 51-year-old Kyle Eng described the correctional officer as a role model just hours after he died on the job at the Las Vegas City Jail.

A spokesperson for the city said Eng's death was considered a line of duty death but offered no further information.

Las Vegas police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

Eng's brother said the sudden death hit the family hard, saying the 51-year-old was hard working and always took care of his friends and family.

The brother tells 13 Action News Eng leaves behind a wife, who calls him her Superman as well as three daughters and a large extended family.

The City of Las Vegas is flying flags at all city buildings at half-staff in Eng's honor.

According to the Injured Police Officers Fund, there has been an account set up in honor of Eng at Wells Fargo.
