LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Bonnie Springs Ranch is being sold, and developers have big plans for the property, but also understand the public's attachment to the area.

"We recognize how special that place is and the whole red rock area but also how special Bonnie Springs is to a lot of people. I have that same feeling in my family." Randall Jones, attorney, and partner connected to the purchase of the property, said.

Currently, Bonnie Springs Ranch includes a replica of a western town, a motel, restaurant, zoo, and event space.

"We're hoping that the new owner will want to keep some of that stuff. That would be great," Heather Fisher, president of the non-profit Save Red Rock, said.

Wednesday, 13 Action News learned the new owners are planning to knock everything down.

The zoo animals will be moved out of the area with the owners planning to find them new places to live. The restaurant, motel, and event center are expected to be rebuilt in a different area on the property as well.

"This is not taking Bonnie Springs away it's just changing it. It's a transformation," Jones said.

In addition to the public area, the developers will also be building 20 homes.

Save Red Rock issued a statement, saying in part:

As presented, this plan does not seek to change the rural zoning and save red rock does not oppose a private property owner who is willing to build what he bought and respect red rock canyon local land use limitations.

The developers are expected to go before Clark County commissioners on Feb. 19.
