The bar for 11th grade students to pass the ACT has been lowered in Nevada, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The State Board of Education decided to divide test scores into four different categories, allowing students who score a 20 or higher to be considered proficient in math and those who score a 17 or higher to be proficient in English.

This means that our state's standard is lower than the one set nationally by test creators. In addition, students do not need to pass the test in order to graduate.

The board says the tests will be used to measure a school's achievement rankings.
