At some point a decision may have to be made. Not about ceasing all care, but about weighing the benefits of a certain course of treatment against the burdens of that treatment. What matters most may not be more time, but the ability to more fully enjoy the time we have with those we love.

Our mission at CompassionCare Hospice is to create excellence, compassion and quality care for our patients & families, our team and the community we serve. CompassionCare can help you understand the nature of your illness, the likely outcome of your current course of treatment, what will happen next, and how you can have the best possible quality of life.

Hospice is about LIVING.

With hospice you’re in control. You and your family are involved in deciding what type of care you’ll receive. That care will be provided to you in your own home, which can include any of the following: private residence, senior community, assisted living facility, group home, nursing home, etc. Hospice services come to you. You can even discontinue hospice care and return to it later, if you choose.

Hospice may be appropriate for those with any progressive, life-limiting illness or condition. Not just cancer. Other diagnosis include:

 • Alzheimers/ Dementia
 • Stroke
 • End-stage renal disease
 • Heart disease or congestive heart failure
 • Pulmonary and liver diseases

If your health continues to worsen despite aggressive treatment, or if you’ve simply decided you don’t want any more hospital visits and exhausting treatments, you may want to consider hospice. Our registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, and clinical social workers are there to help and support you every step of the way and our physicians can also make home visits if necessary. In addition hospice offers support services such as spiritual, counseling, volunteers and bereavement. Plus, all medical supplies, medical equipment, and medications are covered under hospice services 100%. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurances and are one of only four hospices in Nevada contracted with the VA.

CompassionCare also offers “Crisis Care” for periods in which a patient would require acute symptom management such as uncontrolled pain, respiratory distress, anxiety or agitation. Our crisis care nurse remains in the home, bedside, to treat the patient until symptoms are managed once again. This is very individualized one-on-one care. CompassionCare Hospice is the leader in Southern Nevada for crisis care.

Hospice attends, with compassion and respect, to the whole patient. Not only do hospice patients experience a better quality of life, they sometimes actually live longer than they would with conventional care. This means extra weeks or months spent with family and friends. In fact, once patients and their families experience hospice they often day they wish they’d known about it sooner.

If you, a loved one, or anyone you know may benefit from hospice-referring is simple. Anyone diagnosed with a life-limiting illness (with a life expectancy of 6 months or less should the diseases take its natural course) is eligible. Anyone can refer and there are no age or disease restrictions. CompassionCare has Admission Nurse Specialists available 7 days a week for assessments. Call us today for more information or to schedule a consultation.
