Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Action News is getting results for parents worried about the safety of their children on their way to and from school.

A crossing guard now helps guide students to Helen Jydstrup Elementary School, at Hacienda and Duneville, and parents say it's about time.

Rewind to last Wednesday, there was no guard, fast traffic and students trying to cross on their own.

Concerned for student safety, parents turned to Action News.

There were two guards at nearby Reno and Duneville, but none at Hacienda and Duneville.

Action News contacted All City Management Services, also known as the Crossing Guard Company. They reviewed the intersection and within a few days, placed a guard at Hacienda during the morning and afternoon shifts.

All City Management Services took over crossing guard duties from Metro Police earlier this year. They promised full staffing of guards and to review any intersections that might need a guard.

On a scale from one to ten, Action News asked parents how effective the new guard is, "From one to ten, a ten. I really like it."

This brings the total number of crossing guards on Valley roads up to 410.

The new company said it can't place a guard everywhere, but will review any intersections where one might be needed.
