There was just a lot of roadwork performed on east Tropicana Avenue to improve safety, among other things. However, a safety issue still exists on Tropicana at the crosswalk near Morris Street.
On the north side of the street there is a bus stop just east of Morris Street. When a bus is stopped at the bus stop, it blocks the view of the crosswalk.
People trying to use the crosswalk while the bus is parked there are at risk because westbound traffic cannot see them until the pass in front of the bus and are in the middle lane of traffic.
The RTC's transit amenities team is aware of the issue at this particular stop. Within the next few weeks they plan to move it farther away from the crosswalk to ensure the safety of transit passengers and pedestrians.
