Nevada road condition e-mail and text message alerts are now available through the Nevada Department of Transportation's 511 travel information system.

Known as ClearPath 511, the alerts include tire and chain controls, wind advisories/prohibitions and full road closures due to incidents or weather on state roads.

To sign up, users simply log onto www.nvroads.com http://www.nvroads.com, select the "ClearPath" icon and register to receive reports for the state road segments of their choice. The alerts are free, excluding text message fees imposed by individual phone carriers.

"The new ClearPath alerts are an important additional way to keep updated on road conditions," NDOT Director Susan Martinovich explained, "and they're an important way to help us all drive as safely as possible for conditions."
