Here' we are, it's week two of high school football.

Last week a few teams surprised us and a few games went how we thought they would. This week we aim for perfection as we get more familiar with the 2017 squads.

Here's how we did last week: 12-8

Without further ado, here's our week 2 predictions:

Foothill vs Palo Verde

Palo showed a lot last week and showed the ability to control the clock throughout a game. This'll be a close contest but the Panthers hold off the Falcons.

Palo Verde 35 - Foothill 31

Mater Dei (California) vs Bishop Gorman

Bishop Gorman will get our pick until they lose a game. This year's team isn't as experienced as last season, but the talent is there and these kids expect to win.

Bishop Gorman 42 - Mater Dei 40

American Heritage (Florida) vs Liberty

Liberty, like Gorman, is rolling and they march into this season with their best team ever. I expect them to make a huge impact nationally before hitting divisional play.

Liberty 20 - American Heritage 14

Arbor View vs Desert Pines

We had Desert Pines ranked ahead of Arbor View in our pre-season rankings, and deservingly so after winning a 3A state championship, but the Aggies' defensive line will prove to be the difference in this game.

Arbor View 30 - Desert Pines 20

Canyon Springs vs Cheyenne

Two schools that are separated by just a few miles, these players know each other well and look to earn bragging rights for the season. Canyon Springs is just a little too dynamic for the Desert Shields.

Canyon Springs 42 - Cheyenne 14

Snow Canyon (Utah) vs Las Vegas

The Wildcats big 3 will get rolling this week against a good Snow Canyon team. Unfortunately, it won't be enough to pull off the win.

Snow Canyon 28 - Las Vegas 21

Hurricane (Utah) vs Moapa Valley

Moapa Valley proved that they know how to pull out the close ones and that experience will be needed to win another very tight game.

Moapa Valley 14 - Hurricane 10

Bonanza vs Durango

The Blazers won a very tight game last week and that momentum will carry them into Bonanza. The Bengals are a decent team, but Durango seems to be pulling away from some of the other teams in the Southwest division.

Durango 28 - Bonanza 13

Basic vs Sierra Vista

The Wolves looked as good as advertised in Week 1. Sierra Vista, on the other hand, saw several areas where they needed to improve. Their vaunted running attack from last season didn't show up last week but it'll surely get on track soon. Will it be on time to stop Basic?

Basic 38 - Sierra Vista 21

Green Valley vs Centennial

Centennial is talented but young. They're getting used to life under a new head coach and their growing pains continue. They'll hope to iron out the wrinkles in time for divisional play.

Green Valley 37 - Centennial 7

Spring Valley vs Valley

The Vikings have good numbers out on their varsity squad and eventually that'll transition into wins but for now, teams like Spring Valley are too much for them to handle.

Spring Valley 45 - Valley 14

Sunrise Mountain vs Eldorado

Eldorado is still a team we have high hopes for but their lineman struggle with the size. Sunrise Mountain looked good week one and almost defeated a tough Moapa Valley team. They'll pull out that first win this week.

Sunrise Mountain 21 - Eldorado 7

Legacy vs Mojave

Mojave's defense was impressive against an athletic Del Sol offense, but Legacy is a different puzzle to solve. We expect this to be a hard nose game and for Legacy to barely pull off this win.

Legacy 14 - Mojave 13

Chaparral vs Pahrump Valley

Chaparral may not have the talent of the teams from it's previous seasons, but they now know how to win. That mindset will get them though more than a few 3A games this season.

Chaparral 18 - Pahrump Valley 14

Western vs Boulder City

The Warriors pulled off their first win in over 7 years last week, so why not two in a row? A winning streak for the Warriors!

Western 14 - Boulder City 7

Virgin Valley vs Clark

As we mentioned before, Virgin Valley looked good last week and there's no reason to expect that to slow down here. Clark has a few very good athletes but they are just a few pieces away from putting it all together.

Virgin Valley 35 - Clark 7

Cimarron-Memorial vs Del Sol

Del Sol had a tough time getting anything established on offense last week. The Flowers' brother didn't have much time or space to make things happen but they'll find a bit more space this week. It just won't be enough to counteract the Spartans.

Cimarron 28 - Del Sol 21
