(KTNV) -- It was a wild start to the season for NASCAR. Records were smashed and some cars too.
Hours after a brush with death, fans packed the race track again yesterday.
A horrible crash happened Saturday at Daytona. Fans in the stands got a lot closer to the action than they wanted when the race ended with a breath-taking multiple-car crash.
Kyle Larson's number 32 car tumbled out of control and went airborne.
The crash resulted in a 25 pound tire ten rows up into the spectator stands.
Twenty-eight people were hurt.
Danica Patrick was in the starting row after recording the fastest speed on the track during the qualifying round.
On Sunday, she made history by becoming the first female driver to lead a lap. She did it five times.
But, in the end, she couldn't hold onto the lead.
Jimmie Johnson took the checkered flag. Patrick finished 8th.
Durango High School grad Kyle Busch came in 28th and his brother Kurt came in 34th.
