Rugby comes back to Vegas this weekend
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- The USA Sevens Rugby tournament returns to Sam Boyd Stadium this Friday.
The tournament lasts through Sunday and pits the best rugby teams in the world against one another.
The stop in Las Vegas is the fifth of nine stops on the 2012-13 HSBC Sevens World Series.
The tournament is Las Vegas is the only North American stop.
The teams aren't just in Las Vegas to play rugby though. They will be busy with a variety of events during their stop.
The Team USA Event Pep Rally for the USA Eagles will take place from 11 a.m. to noon Feb. 6 at the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. It will feature performances by the USA Sevens cheerleaders and Arbor View High School drum line.
About 30 rugby players will attend an event at Nellis Air Force Base on Feb 6. There will be clincs and a meet and greet.
Opening ceremonies and a parade of nations will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fremont Street Experience.
The Scrumble golf tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday and there will be an official nightlife party at Haze Night Club at the Aria at 10:30 p.m. that night.
Rugby teams will also be visiting various Clark County Schools on Wednesday and Thursday.
