Two more former UNLV Rebels on active NFL rosters
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- Two former players for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas football team are on the National Football League roster of players as football season gets underway.
Isaako Aaitui (UNLV 2007-10) was let go by the Miami Dolphins but has been picked up by the New York Jets.
Martin Tevaseu (2008-09) was cut by the Jets but quickly signed by the Indianapolis Colts.
Five former Rebels are on active NFL rosters after defensive back Quinton Pointer (2007-11) made the St. Louis Rams as a rookie despite being an undrafted free agent.
Eric Wright currently plays for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a cornerback and center Joe Hawley is a player for the Atlanta Falcons.
Former Rebels that were released from their teams over the last 2 weeks of camp include wide receiver Phillip Payne (San Diego Chargers), linebacker K.C. Asiodu (Chicago Bears), defensive back Deante’ Purvis (San Francisco 49ers) and offensive lineman Matt Murphy (Cincinnati Bengals).
