Families who may be looking to buy a home but can't afford the down payment could get some help from the Wells Fargo NeighborhoodLIFT program.

You can apply for the program if you've already been approved for home financing. That means you have an idea of the price range you can afford for a new home.

The program also has income restrictions. According to the NeighborhoodLIFT website, a family of four needs to make less than $50,000 a year to qualify.

A NeighborhoodLIFT event will be held at Flamingo Las Vegas inside the Sunset Ballroom on March 3-4 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Click here to register.

North Las Vegas city officials are hoping the program for home buyers can help boost their economy.

Back in 2012, a similar program helped more than 400 families become homeowners, and this time, program officials hope to help even more.

The mayor of North Las Vegas tells 13 Action News he expects a majority of those families to become homeowners in his part of the valley.

"Jobs are back, people are making better incomes, paying their bills, moving here for new employment, so I see a greater majority of this money to be allowed in North Las Vegas," says Mayor John Lee.
