Sands Cares, the charitable branch of Las Vegas Sands Corp., donated $10,000 to Communities in Schools (CIS) of Nevada on March 3, in front of the LOVE installation in the Waterfall Atrium at The Venetian® Las Vegas. Sands Cares Director Stephanie Stanton and Vice President of Administration and Event Optimization at The Venetian and The Palazzo Anna Schmid presented the check to CIS of Nevada CEO Dr. Tiffany Tyler and Resource Development Director Brittany McCoy.

The donation will help offset the costs of college application fees and other post-secondary interests for CIS of Nevada seniors. SAT and ACT testing can cost $75 per student, cap and gown rental can cost graduates $85 each and non-refundable college application fees can cost students between $45 and $75 per application.

“Our primary goal for providing funding to Communities In Schools of Nevada is to help remove the financial barriers that limit students’ access to resources on the path to graduation,” said Stanton. “Students shouldn’t be kept from entrance testing and college applications simply based on a lack of available resources. These kids have worked tirelessly to be successful, and they deserve the chance to pursue their goals. Sands Cares works with organizations like CIS of Nevada to ensure that Las Vegas Valley youth have every opportunity to fulfill their educational aspirations.”
“Sands Cares is a valued partner in improving the community of Southern Nevada, and we’re grateful that they see such importance in investing in our students’ educations,” said Dr. Tyler. “We’re excited to continue working together on our mission of improving the lives and futures of students within our community.”
