A Clark County elementary school got a special delivery Friday.

Dozens of bicyclists rode in to Jack Dailey Elementary School with a gift of reading. About 750 students waited on the blacktop to high-five the riders as they passed.

Clark County School District's "Safe Routes to School" organized the event that gave two free books to each child.

Speakers with the district also promoted bicycle safety.

Better World Books donated 1,200 books for the cause.

Olivia Egemba, Dailey's principal, said that many students don't get to read at home, and doing so can make a significant difference in the classroom.

She said technology has allowed the school to facilitate outside learning.

"As long as we keep up with technology, which is what the kids are doing, we have a lot of books that are online that we can download onto our iPads or computers, and they actually check them out," Egemba said.

The books that don't get taken home are going to be added to the school library.
