Students at Crestwood Elementary watched a special cooking demonstration, executed by Brett Uniss, executive chef of B&B Ristorante.
The students participate in the Outdoor Garden Classroom, a program created by Green Our Planet in which students learn how to grow their own food while emphasizing individual health and preserving the Earth’s environment.
As part of the program, Uniss showed the students how they can incorporate the produce they grow into cooking. The demonstration highlighted the students' ingredients such as lettuce, spinach and kale as well as fresh herbs like dill and cilantro.
More than 60 students and parents gathered at the outdoor garden where Uniss demonstrated simple preparations that can be replicated in their own kitchens.
