The fifth annual Pirate Fest is set to sail on April 21-23 at their new location in Craig Ranch Regional Park. This unique weekend festival is filled with pirate-themed activities, food vendors, live entertainment and Pirate Fest is home to the annual Zappos’ Cardboard Regatta - a friendly competition of hand-crafted cardboard pirate ships. Contestants actually get IN their boats and race across the lake!

In preparation for this year’s Regatta, Pirate Fest’s very own Rich Strelak is hosting a complimentary ship building sessions at the Zappos’ headquarters where he will be sharing his expertise on cardboard boat building!

Lads, lassies and buccaneers of all ages are invited and encouraged to bring friends, families and business associates to learn the dynamics of cardboard boat building. Participants will be able to create a model of their ideal boat and receive professional advice and feedback from Strelak on execution and design. Free supplies including cardboard sheets (donated by Mattress Firm) and tape will be available for participants to take home with them to build their dream ships at home. Design is of utmost importance since all ships are invited to be placed on display during the festival right up to the regatta.

The ship building session will take place between 7 and 9 p.m. March 14.
