Check out these great grilled cheese sandwiches in Vegas for National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day

National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Day is April 12 and there is no denying that grilled cheese sandwiches are a favorite with many people.

Grilled cheese sandwiches are among the top comfort foods in the United States. In fact, Americans collectively eat 2.2 billion grilled cheese sandwiches every year. 

It is believed that the grilled cheese sandwich originated in the 1920s when inexpensive sliced bread and American cheese became easily available. And although many people still prefer a traditional grilled cheese sandwich, there are others who like walking on the wild side with their ingredients.

Della's Kitchen at the Delano is celebrating National Grilled Cheese Day with an exclusive, one-day special featuring the ultimate grilled cheese comprised of Marin County truffled brie and mozzarella cheese on Granello Bakery's country bread with mushroom bisque and garlic fries.

We also asked our Facebook followers to tell us about their favorite grilled cheese sandwiches in the valley. Here are a few that they suggested:

Bin 702
Bin 702 on Fremont Street in Downtown Las Vegas offers more than one grilled cheese sandwich. The Flamin' Hot Cheeto grilled cheese sandwich is made with white cheddar and mozzarella cheese and is priced at $8. The brie grilled cheese is made with apple, thyme, toasted almonds, brie cheese and wildflower honey ($9). The cabernet mushrooms grilled cheese is made with smoked gouda ($10) and the lobster grilled cheese is made with house-made lobster salad and gouda ($15).

Blue Ox Tavern
The Gourmet Grilled Cheese sandwich at Blue Ox Tavern on Sahara Avenue is made with mozzarella cheese, avocado, Roma tomatoes, and hardwood smoked honey-cured bacon on grilled Texas toast. Cost is $7.99 for the sandwich.

Cafe Zupas
The Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich at Cafe Zupas is made with cheddar cheese, Muenster cheese, tomatoes and a house-made pesto spread. There are several locations in the Las Vegas valley. 

Cousins Maine Lobster food truck
Grilled cheese sandwiches appear to be a popular sandwich on many food trucks. However, the one made by Cousins Maine Lobster features lobster. The sandwich is usually available for $16 from their truck parked near the corner of Fremont Street and Las Vegas Boulevard. The cost of the sandwich may vary if the truck is at an event.

Crab Corner
Seafood lovers should also check out the lobster grilled cheese sandwich at Crab Corner. It's made with Texas toast, 3 slices of sharp cheddar cheese and packed with fresh-picked lobster meat. Served with fresh-cut Old Bay Chips. Cost is $15.99.

Eat
The Killer Grilled Cheese sandwich at Eat is made with aged cheddar on sourdough and served with kickass tomato soup. Cost is $10.

Fat Choy
Fat Choy restaurant inside of Eureka Casino offers a short rib grilled cheese that is heavenly. It is made with onion jam, provolone and cheddar cheeses and comes with a tomato dip. Cost is $11.50.

Freedom Beat at Downtown Grand
The Double Grilled Mac & Cheese Sandwich at Freedom beat features roasted chili macaroni and sourdough bread. Cost is $10. 

Goose Island Pub at Hard Rock
Goose Island Pub offers a grilled cheese, ham and egg sandwich made with 3 kinds of cheese, honey ham, eggs your way and parmesan-crusted Texas toast. Comes with potato chips. Cost is $13.

Hearthstone Kitchen & Cellar at Red Rock Resort recently added a delectable and gooey Adult Grilled Cheese with truffle gouda to its menu. It is served on Texas toast. Cost is $14.

Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar
The grilled cheese sandwich served by Lazy Dog is made with cheddar, Swiss, mozzarella and jack cheeses  and parmesan sourdough.

PKWY Tavern
PKWY Tavern offers the Big Cheese & Tomato Soup on its menu. The Big Cheese is a triple-layered grilled cheese with American and cheddar cheeses, bacon, and charred jalapeno and garlic herb butter on grilled Texas toast. Cost is $10.95.

Stripchezze Food Truck
Many of our Facebook friends told us that Stripchezze Food Truck is the place or truck you want to visit for the best grilled cheese in the city. The Jam Grilled Cheese is made with maple bourbon and beer bacon jam, Muenster cheese and fresh tomato slices. The 3-Way Parlay is a classic grilled cheese made with 3 different gooey cheeses. The Pair O Dice Pizza Grilled Cheese is made with sliced pepperoni, 3 different cheeses and their special pizza sauce.

2 slices of sourdough bread covered with mayo
3 slices of habanero cheese
4 small slices of cream cheese
6 strips of extra crispy bacon

Cook until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted
