Many children in the community get meals at school but often go hungry on the weekends. 13 Action News employees worked to change that Thursday evening.
13 Action News teamed up with Serving Our Kids, a nonprofit that sends food home with students for the weekend. Some of our staff brought food, help and a $7,000 check from the Scripps Howard Foundation.
"We started in like I said one school with 20 bags and now we're in 35 schools," Dale Darcus, founder of Serving Our Kids.
13 Action News staff chose Serving Our Kids because we wanted to shine a light on a lesser known charity, meeting a real need in our community.
