Did you know that there are almost as many gun dealers in Las Vegas as there are Starbucks? 158 versus 159 to be exact.

Safer America, a consumer safety information group, used data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to find out just how many licensed gun dealers vs. Starbucks are in major cities cross the United States. Next, they created the Firearms + Frappuccinos map so that anyone can look up the information.

More than 150 gun dealers in Las Vegas might sound a bit shocking. But, in reality, it is not.

We also looked up several cities that are about the same size (population) of Las Vegas and we came in last.

In Portland, Oregon, there are 333 gun dealers and 245 Starbucks; 393 gun dealers and 33 Starbucks in Oklahoma City; 206 gun dealers and 33 Starbucks in Louisville, Kentucky; 169 gun dealers and 36 Starbucks in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and 162 gun dealers and 57 Starbucks in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We also looked up some other cities just for the heck of it.

Atlanta, Georgia: 294 vs. 141
Chicago, Illinois: 101 vs. 330
Dallas, Texas: 646 vs. 228
Los Angeles, California: 250 vs. 530
Miami, Florida: 246 vs. 105
New York City, New York: 159 vs. 404
Phoenix, Arizona: 640 vs. 247
Salt Lake City, Utah: 276 vs. 43
St. Louis, Missouri: 362 vs. 61

According to Safer America, there were 67,747 gun dealers in the United States at the end of 2015. That means there are more gun dealers than grocery stores, McDonald's, and total coffee shops.

Safer America says that they chose Starbucks for their comparison because they wanted to use something that everyone can relate too. More than 80 percent of U.S. residents live within 20 miles of a Starbucks and nearly everyone lives within 140 miles of a location. The company also likes to say that there is a Starbucks on "every" corner.
