Young veterans who are part of the Nevada Conservation Corps began a trail and habitat restoration project Saturday.

The project is at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area. They will spend the next three months fixing trails, restoring natural habitat and create better access for visitors.

The veterans partnered with the Conservation Lands Foundation, NV Energy Foundation, Friends of Sloan Canyon, Bureau of Land Management and City of Henderson.

"Partnerships like this are what we need to sustain public lands," said Charlotte Overby, with the Conservation Lands Foundation. "Places like Sloan Canyon are for all of us so we can contribute to stewarding these great places."

NV Energy Foundation has made the partnership possible with a $75,000 grant to the Conservation Lands Foundation.
