Woman apparently behind virtual assistant Siri speaks out
New York (KTNV) -- A big secret has been revealed: The apparent woman behind the voice of Siri is speaking out.
Siri is iPhone's virtual assistant, helping users with good restaurant suggestions or directions.
But who is the woman behind the famous voice? Her name is Susan Bennett, "I didn't have the newest version of the iPhone. I went to the Apple site and that's when I heard the voice and went, 'Oh, that's me.'"
Bennett recorderd her voice for a software company in 2005, which is said to be the company that partnered with Apple to provide technology for Siri.
However, Apple won't confirm that Bennett is the voice of Siri.
Bennett's son, family, close friends, legal representative and even audio-ferensics claim Siri's voice is a 100-percent match.
Bennett is a voice-over actress. Her voice can be heard on many GPS and telephone systems. Years ago, she was even the voice of Delta Airlines.
The recent IOS7 software update now has two voice options; a male and a female. There's been recent discussion that Bennett's voice has been replaced.
Bennett said in a recent interview with CNN that there's a reason why Siri has a little edge.
During the recording session back in 2005, she remembers getting tired of recording phrases, hour after hour, irritation kicked in and that's when the sarcasm might have slipped into her recordings.
