New York (KTNV) -- Every few weeks, there's a new list out about top colleges and universities.

There's another one out Monday, but this should really interest both teens and their parents, as the teens start looking at where they want to go to college.

In recent years, the traditional diet in college consisted of macaroni and cheese and cereal, but as college kids hit this semester with new schedules and professors, their eating habits might experience a new beginning as well.

Some colleges are now offering top notch dining experiences.

The Daily Meal website pulled together the top college dining options nationwide, ranking 2,000 four-year colleges and universities that went above and beyond the simple meal plan.

They came up with a list of the 60 top colleges for the most delicious and nutritious offerings. Here's a look at the top five:

1. Bowdoin College, Maine
2. Washington  University, St. Louis, Missouri
3. Virginia Tech, Virginia
4. Emory University, Georgia
5. UCLA, Southern California

The schools were judged on how healthy their offerings were and if those meals were made in-house or grown locally, accessibility and hours of service, did the college engage students with nutritional food-centered events and student feedback.

They were also judged on the "X" factor, something unique and creative that differentiates the school's dining experience.

What made Bowdoin College the top ranking? Besides having what the survey considered good food, the school served vegetables grown in their own organic garden to students.
