New York (KTNV) -- A new study may have women thinking twice about keeping gum and snacks in their purse.

The study showed what kind of germs are lurking around in there.

Turns out, when experts tested handbags, gym bags and laptop cases, they found traces of feces inside.

They also found E-coli and streptococcus.

The study also published information on the participant's handbag habits and revealed that 33-percent of women never clean their bags.
