Jacksonville, FL (KTNV) -- Some dog owners in Florida are taking exercise for their pets to a whole new level.

How about Pilates for your dog?

Dogs and their owners get together on Jacksonville Beach to stretch out and burn off some calories.

Julie Baskin came up with the idea to help rescue dogs.

She found many of them skittish with their new owners at first.

But supporters believe "Doglates" provides a relaxing, beach-front exercise routine for dogs to calm them down and adjust to new surroundings.

To help other dogs who haven't been rescued yet, Baskin donates all proceeds from her classes to the Jacksonville Humane Society and First Coast No More Homeless Pets.

The classes are free, but donations are appreciated.
