San Jose, CA (KTNV) -- Residents in one San Jose, California neighborhood say they're living in fear, all because of burglars going to new lengths to get inside homes.

The ruse was caught on a security camera at one house, showing a woman with an infant in her arms at the front door.

She knocks and rings the door bell, then peers through the front window to see if anyone is home.

A few minutes later, two men jump a fence at the back of the house.

But in this case, before they could get inside, someone appeared inside and scared them off.

Last year, home burglaries in San Jose soared an alarming 23-percent over 2011, and police said the numbers are still rising.
