Portland, OR (KTNV) -- A Girl Scout troop in Oregon is trying to recover after someone placed a $24,000 fake cookie order.

500 cases were purchased and don't have any place to go.

A troop parent said someone claiming to be from an Oregon business called to place the mega order.

The call turned out to be a hoax and now the girls are left to deal with all those cookies.

On Saturday, the community banded together to help the girls.

They set up shop to load off every box and sell them to community members.

At last check, they had sold more than half and were well on their way of accomplishing their goal.
