Homeless man returns diamond ring, rewarded for good deed
Kansas City, MO (KTNV) -- A homeless Missouri man, who returned a diamond ring to its owner, is being rewarded for his good deed.
It happened after a woman accidentally dropped her engagement ring into a cup he was using to collect change.
Instead of trying to cash the ring in, the homeless man kept the ring safe and returned it to the woman who came looking for it.
Complete strangers heard about this and searched Billy Ray Harris out to congratulate him and bring him food.
He said he just did what he was raised to do, "What I actually feel like is what has the world come to when a person who returns something that doesn't belong to him, and all this happens."
The story went viral and reached his estranged sister in Texas.
She hadn't seen her brother in more than 20 years after the two lost touch. She has since offered him a place to stay and he is reportedly considering the offer.
To repay Billy Ray for his actions, the husband of the woman who lost the ring has set up a fundraiser for him.

The raised funds will be given directly to Billy Ray at the end of the campaign on May 15.
