The level of devastation being caused by Hurricane Harvey is being compared to the damage caused by Hurricane Katrina more than a decade ago in New Orleans.

"I don't want to go back," said Gayle Butler.  13 Action News spoke with Butler 12 years ago.  She was one of the many Katrina victims evacuated to Las Vegas at the time.

"They helped us with food and everything," she said.

Right now, some in the valley are still impacted by the deadly storm.

"When Katrina hit, we started looking for him," said Desiree Brown.

Brown's elderly father was one of the many missing.  It was later discovered that he had escaped to the roof after his home was submerged.

"He was sitting on top of the roof, maybe for like a week," she said.

Brown says her father is still recovering from injuries sustained in the storm.

She says the road ahead for Harvey's victims will be long and difficult.

"I love my father, and I'm glad he's here," she said.
