MAKING LAS VEGAS A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE
Reindeer Rocks launches 4th annual party
Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- This Sunday, the YMCA on Meadows Lane will be packed with 500 underprivileged kids enjoying a party complete with presents and Santa. It's called Reindeer Rock and it's making Las Vegas a better place to live.
There are hundreds of toys and hundreds of volunteers who will be wrapping them the next few days at the YMCA. Volunteers like Barbara Morton. She adopted three of her grandkids and remembers fondly when THEY benefited from Reindeer Rock.
Barbara says, " "It was awesome. Wonderful. I had just gotten my grandchildren and it was a hard time. So to be given toys it was just awesome."
All of these toys came from Chet Buchannon and the Morning Zoo's toy drive. But what makes this event so unique is that every gift is wrapped.
McColl Norton with Reindeer Rock explains why. "It's so important because think of Christmas morning. think of the excitement of unwrapping that toy. It's just part of the experience of Christmas."
This is the 4th year of Reindeer Rock -- not some giant corporate event but a giant grassroots experience. McColl says, "Who are we? We are a group of friends that decided to put this on and put it together."
A group of friends grew into a group of volunteers and then grew into hundreds of volunteers able to give wrapped presents to 500 kids. Reindeer rock really does rock.
